Hour-By-Hour Forecast Of Saturday Night Snowstorm In CT

The National Weather Service's estimations of snow, wind, temperatures for CT, broken down county-by-county.

Saturday night is typically when many folks are headed out to visit friends, go out to dinner or see a movie, but unless it's an early dinner, you're likely going to want to stay indoors this evening. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until Sunday morning for Connecticut and most places will see six inches of snow, if not more.

There are a couple of interesting elements to this snowstorm. First, it will be barely cold enough to support snow. In fact, some mixing is possible in New London County. Most places will be around the freezing mark when the precipitation falls tonight. The second interesting part is that most of the accumulating snow is confined to a four or five hour period.

Light snow will enter the western part of the state after 6 p.m tonight and it should be snowing everywhere in the state by 9 p.m. Most of the accumulating snow ends around 3 a.m. Temps will rise quickly on Sunday morning and into the afternoon.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said, "Heavy snow this evening with temperatures near 32 degrees. Mixing with rain may hold down totals in southeastern Connecticut but elsewhere heavy snow is expected. Power outages are a concern just inland from the Sound where the snow will be very wet and heavy. Most of the snow falls in a 4-6 hour window later this evening."

He predicts most areas will end up with six inches of snow though New London County may be closer to four inches of snow.
