Friday’s weather forecast is perfect if you can just sit at home and not have to venture outside. But sadly, that isn’t the case for most of us as we’ll be dealing with some snow, sleet and rain storm throughout Friday in Connecticut.

Areas on the immediate Connecticut coast “luck out” in that they will only be dealing with a very cold, raw rain as temps will be stuck in the mid 30s but the precipitation here should be just plain rain.

Once you move away from the immediate coast, inland areas of southern Connecticut are expected to see a mix of snow, sleet and rain which could produce a minor slushy accumulation and could cause some slippery spots on Friday. Hartford and Tolland counties could see the longest periods of snow and ice and may also see some slushy accumulation to up to two inches, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said “This Friday/Friday night storm really looks awful. Rain, sleet, and snow. Inland areas will see some slushy accumulation of sleet and snow while the shoreline shouldn't. I feel good about our accumulation forecast after seeing overnight model runs.”

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, “A beautiful day expected today with sunny skies temps in the 50s and hardly any wind at all! Get ready for a cold rain storm tomorrow into Saturday morning. Parts of the state will end up with ice on the ground Friday evening and Friday night in the form of sleet. That will be the northern one third of Connecticut! Sunday is pick of the weekend”

Here’s the updated forecast via the National Weather Service:

  • Thursday: Beautiful day, sunshine and temps into the low 50s.
  • Friday: At the immediate coast, plain rain and temps in the upper 30s. A total of one inch of rain is expected before it ends early Saturday.
  • Inland areas of southern Connecticut will see rain and sleet begin around 3 a.m. Friday and that rain and sleet mix continues all day. An inch or so of snow and ice accumulation is possible.
  • Hartford and Tolland counties will see rain and sleet develop around 4 a.m. and that continues throughout the day on Friday and Friday night.
  • Saturday: Rain ends midday and temps into the mid 40s.
  • Sunday: Clouds and some sun and temps into the low 50s.
