Connecticut Weather: Chilly Weather Returns in April, Maybe Snow?

Don't let the brief warmup to end March fool you into thinking warmer temps are here to stay.

There will be some rain both today and tomorrow as we head into the Easter holiday weekend but the good news is that it will dry out for Saturday and Sunday, though temps on Easter Sunday will be a bit chilly.

The National Weather Service says cloudy skies will dominate today in Connecticut, while there may be a few breaks of sun this afternoon.

"In spite of the clouds, high temperatures should rise to near normal. Light rainfall or drizzle will be possible from time to time, however most of the day will be dry," the weather service says.

"A warm front approaches tonight, and this will followed by the passage of a cold front on Friday. After a chance of light rain and drizzle tonight along with areas of fog, rain becomes likely for a short time on Friday. Highs on Friday will be warmer," the weather service says.

And for those of you who thought winter was over, here is something to keep in the back of our mind.

Accuweather.com says in its extended April outlook that chilly air is on tap to begin the month and there will be several chances for precipitation and there could even be some snow for some areas.

"While accumulating snow is much less likely in the I-95 corridor of the mid-Atlantic, there are likely to be a small number of storms that may produce at least some wet snow in the Appalachians and central and northwestern New England into the first half of April," AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said.

And while the jury is out on if we'll see anymore snow, April will feature a lot of precipitation, Accuweather.com says.

"People should expect some sort of shower or rain event roughly every other day. It is a type of pattern that may make tackling major outdoor projects a challenge but may allow some minor or quick tasks to be accomplished, especially where and when the rain falls at night, instead of during the daylight hours."

In mid-April, temps are expected to moderate.
