'Nor'easter Appears Likely' Next Week For Connecticut

If you thought winter was over, well guess again as March may begin with a "major storm," meteorologists say.

This isn't exactly a stellar weather weekend with rain in southern Connecticut and a mix of rain and ice in northern Connecticut, but there are growing concerns about a nor'easter late next week in Connecticut. The nor'easter would impact us on Thursday and Friday, if it materializes.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said Saturday that "For days we've been talking about an 'active' pattern to start March. The first possible storm is showing up for Thursday/Friday of next week. A nor'easter appears likely with a threat for rain, wind, snow, and coastal flooding. How much of each? Too soon to tell. We're watching it."

Fox 61 Meteorologist said Saturday, "A consistent signal for a major storm heading into the first week of March. Could this be winter's last gasp??? or just another rainstorm looking to make our weekend soggy?"

Again, the potential storm is five days away but already the National Weather Service says there is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow on Thursday night and Friday.

As for the rest of this weekend, lots of rain this afternoon, evening and on Sunday. In northern Connecticut there may be some ice that mixes in late tonight and early Sunday, which is why a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued. And on the plus side, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday look like brilliant weather days, plenty of sunshine and temps in the 50s.
