RIDGEFIELD, CT — Third time will not be a charm for the Ridgefield 2023 4th of July fireworks celebration.

After two previous cancelations, on July 2 and the original rain date a week later due to heavy rains and forecast thunderstorms, the town has made the decision to postpone the event "indefinitely."

The original plan had been to reschedule before the end of summer, but "due to timing and logistical obstacles, we are unable to reschedule for this year. The Fireworks Committee came to this decision after exhausting all possibilities," officials said in a statement Friday afternoon. "We know this is very disappointing for all. We share in everyone’s frustration, but are looking ahead with optimism for better luck next year. "
