Three Ridgefield Schools to Dismiss Early Due to Power Outages

Four schools lost power Thursday morning, and three of those schools will be dismissing early.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — High winds are causing power outages across the state. In Ridgefield, 467 customers are currently without power, accounting for four percent of the town's customer base as of 10:02 a.m. The outage is also causing three of the district's schools to dismiss early.

The Ridgefield Public Schools announced that four of the district's schools have lost power; including Ridgefield High School, Scotts Ridge Middle School, Barlow Mountain Elementary School and Scotland Elementary School. RHS, Scotts Ridge and Scotland will be dismissing early on the following schedule:

  • RHS: 11:15 a.m.
  • Scotts Ridge Middle School: 11:50 a.m.
  • Scotland Elementary School: 12:25 p.m.

It's always smart to check your refrigerator temperature after any power outage, no matter how long power is out. According to foodsafety.gov, you should check the temperature inside of your refrigerator and freezer and discard any perishable food items that have been above 40 degrees for two hours or more.
