Southington Goes All Out To Honor Memorial Day

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The town will honor the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served during wartime with its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27.

Those marching in the parade will assemble at 9:45 a.m. at Derynoski Elementary School, Eden Avenue, and step off at 10:15 a.m.

The parade will then work its way onto Eden Avenue, Liberty Street, Center Street, Apple Way and finish on Columbus Avenue, not far from American Legion Post 72 in Southington.

During the event, several roads will be closed to traffic nearby to facilitate the parade. Those roads will reopen once the parade ends.

Following the parade, a special ceremony will take place in front of the American Legion Home, 64 Main St., Southington.

Before the parade, the American Legion Post 72 Southington will conduct 12 small ceremonies starting at 7:30 a.m. at 12 different local cemeteries/parks where veterans are buried or where veterans are honored.
