Cooling Centers Available In Stamford During Heat Wave

Several cooling centers are available throughout Stamford for residents looking to beat the heat.

STAMFORD, CT — Those looking for a respite from the first heat wave of the season can find a cooling center in Stamford this week.

The city said on Facebook that several cooling centers are available:

  • Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd., first floor lobby until 8:30 p.m., daily. The lobby is available on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Domus, 87 Lockwood Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • New Covenant Center, 174 Richmond Hill Ave., Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Police Activities League, 245 Selleck St., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Building One Community, 417 Shippan Ave., first floor, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has forecast that temperatures will be into the 90s, reaching predicted highs in the upper 90s on Thursday and Friday.
