STAMFORD, CT — Budget season is underway in Stamford, and Mayor Caroline Simmons will present her proposed fiscal year 2024-2025 spending plan on March 6.

"Right now, we are reviewing each city department’s operating budgets to ensure we are investing in my administration’s key priorities, while also maintaining sound fiscal responsibility," Simmons said in her weekly newsletter to the community on Feb. 9.

Simmons said she plans on enhancing investments in public safety. There has been a rash of pedestrian/motor vehicle collisions and pedestrian fatalities in Stamford in recent years, and the city has launched multiple initiatives and projects to address safety on the city's roadways.

The city/school budgets are typically approved in May.
