Obituary: Ruth S. Alpert, 97, Formerly Of Stamford

Ruth will be remembered for her love of New Haven and her stories of spending summers at the family cottage at Bradley Point.

Ruth S. Alpert, 97, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024. Ruth was born in New Haven on February 4, 1927. She was the daughter of Joseph and Julia Sachs of New Haven. She graduated from The American International College, Springfield, Massachusetts in 1948.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Nelson L. Alpert. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Alpert) Halpert and her son-in-law Marc Halpert of Fairfield, Ct. and her son Stephen Alpert and daughter-in-law Jane Alpert of Stamford, Ct. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sarah (Halpert) Paritsky and her husband Lenny, their two children Zoe and Ezra of Arlington, Massachusetts; Daniel Halpert and his wife Dipika Mouli of Silver Spring, Maryland; Benjamin Alpert of Greenpoint, Brooklyn and Jennifer Alpert of Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn.

Deprived by the COVID outbreak of direct interaction with her great-grandchildren, Ruth took joy in the drawings and letters they sent, and her facetime calls with them. Ruth will be remembered for her love of New Haven and her stories of spending summers at the family cottage at Bradley Point.

A private family service will be held to celebrate Ruth’s life.
