Sections Of Washington Boulevard, South State Street To Close In Stamford: CTDOT

The CT Deptartment of Transportation said work on a pedestrian bridge for the Stamford Train Station garage is slated to begin Monday night.

STAMFORD, CT — Sections of Washington Boulevard and South State Street in Stamford will be closed during night hours this week so work can begin on a new pedestrian bridge for the Stamford Transportation Center parking garage project.

According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, which is overseeing the project, work is scheduled to begin Monday night, with closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., the following day.

CTDOT said it doesn't expect the project contractor to need the road closures every night. Work is scheduled through July 1, as it is weather-dependent, but work is anticipated to last two to three days.

All lanes of South State Street between Greenwich Avenue and Washington Boulevard, and Washington Boulevard between North State Street and Station Place will be closed.

The installation of the pedestrian bridge will be performed in two phases. A firm date for phase 2 has not been announced yet, but it could begin later in July.

The 320-foot pedestrian bridge will stretch over Washington Boulevard and connect the garage to the Stamford Transportation Center, according to a news release issued by CTDOT.
