SoundWaters' Flotilla In Stamford Raises Nearly $45K

Since its inception in 2017, the annual Flotilla has raised more than $300,000.

STAMFORD, CT — Almost 200 participants helped raise around $45,000 at ths year's SoundWaters' Flotilla to support Long Island Sound education programs.

Launching from Cove Island Park in Stamford and Weed Beach in Darien last month, participants navigated a four-mile route ending at Boccuzzi Park in Stamford, where they enjoyed a celebratory lunch and beachside music.

The event, designed to be inclusive for kayakers and paddleboarders of all skill levels, was an enriching and safe experience with kayak guides and support boats ensuring participants’ safety throughout.

“The Flotilla is all about coming together to protect the Sound. I’d like to think that by connecting people to this beautiful natural resource in such a fun and memorable way, people will realize it’s all our responsibility to protect it,” said SoundWaters President Leigh Shemitz in a news release.
