STRATFORD, CT - (From Adzima Funeral Home) Michael J. Balis Jr., age 80, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Patricia Simes Balis, passed away on June 29, 2022, in Midstate Medical Center.

Mike, lovingly known as “Mickey”, was born in Bridgeport on December 10, 1941, to the late Michael and Julia (Barocsi) Balis and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired foreman for the Town of Stratford Water Pollution Control.

Mike was the most loving father a family could ask for and the friend you could always count on. He was dedicated to his family.

Always a hard worker, he took on many business ventures and would give almost anything a try in order to support those he loved. He also loved animals and had many cherished pets throughout his life.

He was the man to call if you needed anything renovated or repaired. He enjoyed boating, camping, vacationing in Las Vegas, spending time around his treasured home tending to his pool, garden, and lawn, and shopping, shopping, and more shopping.

He will be fondly remembered by all for his signature mustache and his daily “uniform” consisting of a flannel or pocket t-shirt and a well-worn pair of khakis.

Survivors include his devoted daughters, Pamela Scinto and her husband Dan of Seymour, and Christine DaMato and her husband Dennis of Oxford, four cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Rachel Scinto, and Haley and Nicholas DaMato, brothers, Alexander Balis and his wife Patricia, and Joseph Balis, several nieces and nephews, and his cat, “Miss Kitty”.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Mike was pre-deceased by his sisters, Millane and Judith.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, July 8th from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Funeral services and interment with full military honors will be private.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make a donation in memory of Mike to the Alzheimer’s Association 200 Executive Boulevard Southington, CT 06489.
