WEST HAVEN, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Glen R. Giovanelli, 67, of West Haven.

A son of the late Essio (Ace) and Charlotte Valente Giovanelli, Glen leaves his wife Jean, sons Scott Giovanelli and Army Sgt. Jeffery Giovanelli, daughter Megan (Jeff) Doble, six cherished grandchildren Evan, Emma, Essio, Alex, Giuliana and Veronica, Jean’s twin brothers Jim (Karen) and Ed (Sandy) Lingenfelter, and many nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to list.

In addition to his parents, Glen was predeceased by his brothers Bruce and Wayne Giovanelli.
As a young man, Glen worked alongside his Dad in the commercial carpeting and flooring business.

He continued the company and his Dad’s legacy, under the name of West Haven Rug Co. He had the privilege of working at The Traditions Golf Club at Oak Lane in Woodbridge since July, 2012 where he quickly developed deep friendships.

Glen will be remembered most for his love of family and friends, for his extreme generosity, thoughtfulness and kindness, even to strangers.

He was loved by so many people! Special thanks to his friends at Smilow for taking such good care of him.

An accomplished athlete, Glen had a passion for golf but excelled in football, baseball and basketball. He was especially proud of his Hole-In-One at Lake of Isles at Foxwoods!

For approximately 30 years, he orchestrated an annual, April golf trip to Myrtle Beach.

Along with the Elm Café, Glen also helped organize and run a yearly golf tournament to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Unfortunately, Glen ended up being diagnosed with the same disease he raised money for, for so many years.

On Monday July 11, all are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’clock in St. Aedan’s Church, 112 Fountain St., Westville. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 22324, New York, New York 10057.
