The Wilton Athletic & Recreation Foundation (WARF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the sports and recreation infrastructure in Wilton, CT, proudly announces its first public-private partnership with the Town of Wilton. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in improving local athletic fields and facilities, beginning with the addition of new mobile fencing on both the baseball and softball fields at the high school complex.

“We are thrilled to see this longstanding need come to fruition,” says George Cross, VP of Travel Wilton Softball. “This type of improvement will make a significant positive impact on our players and the future success of our programs, which are committed to supporting Wilton’s baseball and softball players from the youth level through high school.”

This major upgrade was made possible by thoughtful collaboration between the Wilton Public Schools Athletic Department, WBSA (Wilton Baseball and Softball Association), Wilton Softball, Wilton Parks and Recreation, and WARF. The project was funded by WARF and Wilton’s Parks & Recreation Department, with commitments from the WBSA and Wilton Softball boards to pay for the setup of the fence at games.

Founded to work hand-in-hand with Wilton’s community, government leadership, and corporate partners, WARF’s mission is to foster a robust infrastructure for sports and recreation that enriches the lives of all residents.

JR Sherman, President of WARF says, "This partnership with the town exemplifies how small wins can accumulate to make a profound impact on our community fields and facilities. Improvements like these not only enhance the experience for our young athletes but also strengthen community spirit and Warrior pride. WARF extends its gratitude to all stakeholders involved and looks forward to further enhancing the recreational landscape of Wilton.”

With all youth sports organizations in Wilton represented on the WARF board, the foundation ensures that its projects reflect a comprehensive approach to sports development.

"By including voices from every sports organization, we ensure that our initiatives meet the broad needs of all of Wilton’s young athletes, promoting a healthier, more active, and more cohesive community," Sherman adds. “The upgrades to the baseball and softball fields are just the beginning. WARF is committed to continuing its efforts in identifying and leveraging new opportunities for collaboration that will benefit all recreational facilities in Wilton.”

This public-private partnership serves as a model for future projects, showcasing the potential for significant improvements through cooperative effort and shared vision.
