Nurse Adopts Malnourished, Abused Toddler And Her Twin: Report

Jess Hamm treated a toddler named Delilah at Wolfson Children's Hospital. She ended up adopting both Delilah and her twin, Caroline.

JACKSONVILLE, FL — A Jacksonville nurse who treated a malnourished 1-year-old girl with broken bones ended up adopting the girl and her twin sister too. Jess Hamm, a nurse at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, told WFOX-TV that a toddler named Delilah was hospitalized with a skull fracture and other breaks. The 14-month-old girl couldn't hold a bottle or even sit up.

The heartbroken nurse said the "lifeless" girl managed to hold onto Hamm's finger though. At that point she knew — the toddler was coming home with her.

After going through the appropriate channels with the state Department of Children and Families, she learned the girl had a twin, Caroline, who was also at the hospital.
