Safety Harbor Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle; Tips Wanted

SAFETY HARBOR, FL — Pinellas County deputies are seeking the public's help to find a hit-and-run driver that struck and killed a bicyclist and then fled the scene.

On Thursday at 9:14 p.m., investigators responded to 3180 Enterprise Road in Safety Harbor after receiving reports of an injured person laying in the grass.

According to the Pinellas sheriff, 36-year-old Mindy Miran Yi was riding her bike west in the fog lane on Enterprise Road when a vehicle that was also traveling west struck the rear of Yi's bike, throwing her off.

Yi was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and, around 4 p.m. Friday, the sheriff's office reported that she died from her injuries.

Investigators believe that the vehicle that struck Yi has damage to the front passenger side headlight. No other evidence was found at the scene and there is no footage of the crash that was captured by local businesses or surveillance videos installed at homes.
