Anti-Drug Alliance Seeks Donations Of Prom Dresses

The organization is asking residents of the Tampa Bay area to help by donating new or gently used formal dresses.

From HCADA: The Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance (HCADA), along with More Health, the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office, and the Allstate Foundation will be holding a prom dress and suit drive this month as part of their #PromRightSafeNight initiative to encourage local students to make sound decisions during this celebratory time.

The organization is asking residents of the Tampa Bay area to help by donating new or gently used formal dresses and suits to the designated collection sites.

Ninety percent of teens believe their peers are more likely to drink and drive on prom night. Every year, car accidents are the leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 12 and 19, with nearly a third of those deaths occurring during Prom season.

“We’re excited to help teens in our local community while spreading a message of safety during this exciting time of year,” said Cindy Grant, Executive Director, HCADA. “We hope they have a wonderful night to remember and realize they could be saving the lives of others as well as their own.”

On March 30, teens can pick out a gown or suit of their choice by pledging not to drink alcohol and not to drive impaired or get in the car with someone who is. The overall goal is to get local youth to think about how one poor decision could change their lives forever.
