3 FL Pizzerias Among Nation's Best, Italian Website Says

FLORIDA — Three Florida pizzerias are among the 50 best in the United States, according to an Italian pizza-ranking website.

Inferno Pizzeria Napoletana in Montgomery County ranked 22nd on the list that features some of the best slices in the nation, according to 50toppizza.it. Located in Darnestown, Inferno opened in 2015 and offers authentic Neapolitan pies created by chef/owner Tony Conte.

La Leggenda Pizzeria in Miami ranked ninth on the list brings the taste of Italy to South Florida, according to 50toppizza.it. Located at 224 Espanola Way in Miami Beach, the restaurant carries the nickname of Giovanni Gagliardi, from the Caserta area of Italy who in 2012 won the World Championship of Neapolitan Pizza before coming to Florida.

"The dough is contemporary Neapolitan, well-leavened, airy, and very digestible. The Nerano pizza, a reinterpretation of the classic pasta dish from Nerano with zucchini and Provolone del Monaco, is excellent. The provola and pepe pizza is a must-try,"the ranking says of La Leggenda. "However, the true strength of the establishment is the service, always smiling and ready to meet the customers' needs."

‘O Munaciello in Miami's Mimo District also made the list at No. 11. Located at 2250 Coral Way, Miami, its run by Carmine Candito. The restaurant describes its focus: "Dough that rises for 48 hours, the best Italian products, and a wood-fired oven. This is the recipe we have devised to allow everyone and everywhere to taste the real pizza Neapolitan verace."

Those behind the top 50 pizza ranking seemed to agree.

"The restaurant recreates the atmosphere of a neighborhood pizzeria in the city of Naples, but above all the pizza is authentic Neapolitan - soft dough, rolled thin, topped with authentic Italian ingredients, offering the palate the taste experience of a great traditional pizza. Fabrica Pizza, which has locations in Tampa and St. Pete, was ranked No. 18.

"At Fabrica, we bring the taste and energy of a Neapolitan Pizzeria to our guests," the venue said. "Our hand-streched dough is made using 00 flour. Our tomato sauce is made from the finest tomatoes. Our smiles are genuine."

The writers of the rankings said: "Fresh and quality ingredients, always very precise cooking, with a slight crunch on the crust that makes the bite very pleasant. Don't miss the Margherita with the addition of Parmesan, in addition to tomato and mozzarella of course, and the Chorizo, truly delicious."
