ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg man has been arrested on multiple charges involving an auto theft and causing a traffic crash with serious bodily injury, authorities said.

Ke'Andrae Davis, 21, was speeding while driving a stolen Jeep Saturday night, heading south on 20th Street South just before midnight, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

His friend, Vincent Green, 20, jumped onto the rear of the Jeep before Davis sped down the street.

A short time later, Davis lost control of the vehicle and it swerved and flipped, ejecting Green off the back, police said.

Green was seriously injured in the crash, police said. He was brought to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Davis climbed out of the Jeep and left the area before officers arrived. He was found and arrested Wednesday night.

He was charged with grand theft motor vehicle, reckless driving with serious bodily injury, leaving scene of a crash involving injury, felon in possession of firearm, tampering with a witness, resisting an officer without violence and having no valid driver's license.
