Man Arrested During Traffic Stop Outside School: St. Pete Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A man with two small children in his vehicle was arrested during a traffic stop outside Campbell Park Elementary School Friday morning, a St. Petersburg police spokesperson told Patch.

Police pulled the driver over for an expired paper tag outside the school around 8 a.m.

During the traffic stop, the driver, whose name hasn’t been released, got out of his vehicle and got into a struggle with the officer, police said.

The officer removed and fired his Taser to try to subdue the man, but he was able to get away, running a short distance before being caught and arrested.

The children in his vehicle, who witnessed the incident, were brought into the school by another witness and later picked up by a parent, police said.
