GEORGIA — While the National Weather Service predicts the odds of a white Christmas in the Peach State are unlikely, weather officials forecast frosty mornings are ahead in the coming days for portions of Georgia.

Meanwhile, metro Atlanta and Columbus are under a fire danger statement Tuesday, and another round of weekend showers are expected for parts of Georgia that stretch to Savannah.

Low relative humidities will cause high fire danger conditions Tuesday afternoon for north and central Georgia, according to the weather service's Peachtree City office.

Humidity levels are predicted to be at 25 percent or less and are expected to last for at least four hours into the evening. Winds are forecast at 10 mph northwest.

"With dry fuels, high fire danger conditions can be expected. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution," weather officials said in the alert.

A constant drought and the low relative humidity values together could create near critical fire weather conditions Wednesday for parts of north Georgia, the weather service said.

However, Tuesday should remain clear before patchy frost arrives after 3 a.m. Wednesday in metro Atlanta. The frost is forecast to remain in the early morning hours before re-emerging once more after 2 a.m. Thursday.

After lingering early Thursday morning, the frost should start to clear.

The Columbus area will also be affected by frost during these days.

After at least two weekends of rainfall, the weather service is predicting yet another round of showers across the state, from Atlanta to Columbus to Savannah.

High temperatures will teeter in or around the 50s while lows are expected to be in or around the 30s.

Furthermore, the weather service said Tuesday while the chances of a snowy Christmas for north Georgia through Atlanta are "not good," the odds are "even worse" for the southern region of the state.
