A Novel Idea Hosts Toni Bellon’s Book Launch and Don Pattillo Aug. 20

Bellon and Pattillo, Atlanta Writers Club members, will discuss books during a supper-club-styled evening at Alpharetta's Brimstone Tavern

(Patch)

Authors Toni Bellon and Don Pattillo will be the featured speakers during a free event Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Alpharetta. Hosted by A Novel Idea, activities begin at 7 p.m. at Brimstone Restaurant & Tavern, 10595 Old Alabama Road, though attendees are encouraged to come early to mix and mingle.

Bellon retired as Assistant Dean of Education from the University of North Georgia. She left to care for her alcoholic mother who suffered from dementia and Parkinson’ s. During that time, writing became cathartic. Bellon uses humor, hoping her snarky view of life brings a smile to anyone who’ s reading. After living in nine states, she now resides near Atlanta, where she is a member of the Atlanta Writers Club, A Novel Idea and multiple critique groups. Grandma is her favorite title. L.E.A.P. is her first novel.

Pattillo has been a historian of the American aircraft industry for almost 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1960s. He earned a Ph.D. in business from Georgia State University, and taught international business and finance for more than 20 years. In the 1990s he turned to his first love, aviation history. His books include Pushing the Envelope, The American Aircraft Industry, and A History in the Making, 80 Turbulent Years in the American General Aviation Industry. He has also published scholarly articles in the field. His current books are The General Aviation Industry in America, Second Edition, and a novel about the Wright Brothers, A Romance of Flight.
