GEORGIA β€” Like other states across the U.S., Independence Day is forecast to be hot and rainy for Georgia residents.

The stormy couple of days leading to the Fourth of July, observed Thursday, could be a prelude to what Georgians may can expect during the brief holiday break.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms could arrive Tuesday afternoon in central Georgia into the evening, the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office forecast.

Gusty winds, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning could accompany few strong storms, according to the weather service's hazardous outlook.

Then, Wednesday-Monday, daily scattered thunderstorms may threaten any outdoor Independence Day plans for the Peach State. Potential hazards with these storms are the same as the aforementioned.

Showers in the Columbus area were anticipated late Tuesday morning while storms could roll into Savannah before 5 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service said. With daily downpour, from central Georgia to the coast, there will seemingly be no pause in rainfall for Georgians through Monday.

As for how hot it might be, temperatures are expected to linger in the low to mid-90s through Monday.

The Georgia forecast aligns with the remainder of the U.S. with AccuWeather predicting parts of the East Coast and much of the Southwest to be hot Thursday.

California could reach record high temperatures while parts of the Southern Plains and Southeast could surpass their historical averages, AccuWeather said.

RealFeel temperatures in Georgia could rise to 105-110, AccuWeather forecast.

Though storms are predicted for Georgia, AccuWeather surmises fireworks viewing conditions will be good for residents.

Areas along the Atlantic Coast could be beneficial in offering cool air for anyone looking to escape the holiday heat, AccuWeather said.

Forecasters warn coastal residents to monitor the progress of Hurricane Beryl, which reached Category 5 status and was moving west-northwest in the central Caribbean Tuesday morning.

As of around 10:45 a.m., the National Weather Service predicted the following detailed forecast for metro Atlanta:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. East wind 10-15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Independence Day: Isolated showers, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 76. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
