Winder Brothers Arrested After Task Force Makes Major Drug Bust

Barrow investigators uncovered various drugs, several firearms and thousands in cash.

Two Winder brothers were arrested after deputies found a large cache of drugs and guns during a Friday raid.

John and Steven Vang, both 28, face numerous charges after a month-long investigation by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Crime Task Force ended with a search warrant of their residence on Hancock Bridge Road in Winder. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office reported the bust on Facebook.

  • More than 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine, with a street value of more than $70,000
  • 15 pounds of marijuana, with street value of $77,000
  • 12 firearms, including four assault rifles, one rifle and seven semi-automatic handguns
  • $27,262 in cash
  • 1 ounce of MDMA (ecstasy), with street value of $3,000
  • Small amounts of cocaine and hashish

The brothers are being held in the Barrow County Detention Center. They are charged with trafficking in meth, trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in Schedule 1 controlled substance (ecstasy). possession of a Schedule 1 substance (hashish), possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine) and possession of firearms during the commission of a felony.
