This fall, the <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://museum.oglethorpe.edu/">Oglethorpe University Museum of Art</a> (OUMA) turns its focus eastward, showcasing rare pieces from its permanent collection of objects from the Asian continent. The collection entitled OUMA Collects 2024: Focus on Asia includes a late Edo period Japanese screen of the Kano school, a 19th-century South Korean taenghwa (thangka), a 14th-century Chinese bronze of Pu Hsien/Samantabhadra (known as the All-Good Buddha), and other exquisite objects.

This fall, OUMA continues to celebrate accessibility, disability pride, and well-being with a dynamic exhibition of the work of eight artists. All artists are inspired by and utilize music/vibration/sound in their work, and all are Deaf. This highly technical exhibition includes five screens continuously showing performances with listening/experience booths alongside photographs of the artists in action. Video, photography, paintings, and light installations fill Skylight Gallery in this completely immersive experience. 

The Opening Day Celebration will be on Saturday, September 21 from 1 – 4 p.m., including performances at 2 p.m. by Robbie Wilde (thatDEAFdj) and Briana Johnson (Beautiful the Artist). Video/Listening booths will be active. Grab some headphones and join the “silent disco” with music by Robbie Wilde and equipment provided by Black Out Experience. ASL/BASL interpreters provided by the SOS Agency. Additional support provided by the Georgia Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

from the human form. The resulting body of work is both captivating and transformative, blending elements of modern art with
expressive technique to create innovative and dynamic original works.&nbsp;Collectors will find this collection a departure from the

Decatur, Georgia—Decatur Presbyterian Church announced its annual Blessing of the Pets event on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10 AM in the church’s Terrace Garden. All people and pets of all types in the surrounding communities are welcome to come, bring a pet, and have the pet blessed by a pastor. Everyone is welcome. Following the blessing, there will be a contest with prizes for various pet categories such as best trick, best dressed, best owner look-alike, etc. 
The Blessing of the Animals, traditionally held in the Fall, is often associated with St. Francis of Assisi, known as the patron saint of animals and ecology. Decatur Presbyterian Church also recognizes that pets are important to our families. This day allows everyone to appreciate how pets are vital to our spiritual lives. Please bring your chairs for this event.

Gain valuable insights into the work of long time disability rights advocate and activist, theater director, <a href="https://www.coredance.org/elizabeth-labbe-webb" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Elizabeth Labbe-Webb</a>. From a self-proclaimed "young troublemaker" studying theatre at Kent State to her present position as Executive Director of Core Dance, Labbe-Webb has continually pushed for inclusion, becoming a leader in the field of disability rights and accessibility. She is the former CEO/Director of VSA Arts Georgia. She has particular expertise in corporate and not for profit strategy, planning, arts access for people with disabilities and other underserved communities.
This lecture is part of this season's exhibition series focused on Disability Pride, accessibility, wellbeing, and our commitment to Art for All.
