Cumming Man Killed After Being Hit By Impaired Driver: Sheriff

Warrants were obtained to charge a Cumming man on suspicion of vehicular homicide in the death of another man near Castleberry Road.

CUMMING, GA — A Cumming bicyclist is dead after authorities said he was hit and killed by an impaired driver Saturday at the intersection of Castleberry Road and Kings Common Way.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Monday that Victor Godyn, 71, was riding a bicycle around 4:15 p.m. when he was heading westbound into the intersection from Kings Common.

He nearly made it past the inside lane when he was hit by a maroon 1994 Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck, authorities said. Godyn was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Matthew Holbrook, identified by authorities as the Cumming driver of the pickup truck, was accused of driving while impaired. Warrants were obtained to charge Holbrook on suspicion of vehicular homicide and DUI drugs, authorities said.
