Kathy Marie Jolly, 57

Kathy Marie Jolly age 57 of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2015. She earned a B.S. degree from the University of Kentucky in 1979 and was a 1975 graduate of Daviess County High School in Owensboro, Kentucky. She was a social worker for the Senior Citizens Outreach Center in Owensboro, Kentucky, Head Start in Owensboro Public Schools, American Cancer Society in the Western Kentucky Region, and most recently was the Parent Involvement Coordinator for Forsyth County Schools.

Kathy was a member of many organizations including; a Board member of the Georgia Baptist Convention Healthcare Ministry Foundation, a board member and President of United Way, and board member for Literacy Forsyth. She volunteered on many community projects.

Kathy was instrumental in founding the transition services office of the Almon C. Hill International Center. She developed the ESOL program of Forsyth County Schools and supported these programs in surrounding counties. She fostered partnerships with 9th District Opportunities and served on a Federal Programs Advisory Board.

Kathy served faithfully beside her husband Dr. Bob Jolly at the First Baptist Church of Cumming, Georgia. Through the last 21 years she has served as preschool director, taught Sunday School for children, middle school students and adults, sang in the Celebration Choir and Ladies Rejoice Ensemble, was active in Women On Mission groups, travelled to Ethiopia on mission trips and volunteered on various committees.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bob Jolly; her two children, Preston (Dawn) Jolly, and Meredith (Ryan) Yackel; and one grandchild, Madison Paige Jolly.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Cumming with Dr. J. Robert White, Dr. Paul Chitwood, and Paula Gault-Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Cumming, Monday, July 20, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, July 21, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the children’s ministry of First Baptist Church Cumming, GA or Literacy Forsyth.
