Man Found Dead In Car Along Side Of Ga. 400 In Cumming

CUMMING, GA — The crashed car and body of a man who had been missing was found Monday afternoon by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

At 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Forsyth County Sheriff's Detective A. Miller found a 2012 Honda Civic that had crashed into a wooded area off the shoulder of Ga. 400 southbound near the Lake Lanier Bridge. Miller had previously put out a lookout on a missing person, Daniel Edward Harp, 25, of Cumming.

While investigating the missing person case using cellphone technology, she located the crashed vehicle driving by Harp, who was deceased at the scene.

Harp's vehicle had traveled off the west shoulder of Ga. 400 and down an embankment into a wooded area. After striking several trees, the vehicle came to rest in the heavily wooded area.

The case is under investigation by members of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Traffic Specialist Unit and the major crime unit.
