Motorcyclist Killed In Fatal Forsyth Co. Crash With SUV Identified

The Gainesville man's motorcycle crashed with a SUV while trying to pass other vehicles in Forsyth County, authorities say.

CUMMING, GA — A 38-year-old Gainesville man was killed Friday in a crash near Dawsonville Highway, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Authorities said Daniel Ericksen was driving a 2021 Harley Davidson around 8:30 p.m. east on Dawsonville.

As Ericksen approached the Crystal Cove Trail and Westbrook Road intersection, authorities said he went into a left lane in an attempt to speedily pass two cars.

Simultaneously, a Ford Expedition was crossing Dawsonville from Crystal Cove onto Westbrook, authorities said. The Harley Davidson hit the Expedition, causing Ericksen to be ejected from the motorcycle, authorities said.

Witnesses tried to render aid to Ericksen; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The status of the Expedition driver is unknown.
