Student Arrested After Loaded Gun Found At Forsyth Co. School: Sheriff

CUMMING, GA β€” A 14-year-old Little Mill Middle School student was arrested Tuesday morning after a loaded 9-mm pistol was found in their waistband, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said.

Administrators were alerted to the gun by another student, authorities said. The student accused of having the gun was removed from class and was searched by a school resource officer, authorities said.

After the gun was found in the student's waistband, the student was arrested and taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center. There were no injuries, authorities said.

β€œThis is a sobering example of why it is so important to emphasize 'see something, say something' to our kids and students as it takes all of us to keep our kids and schools safe," Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a news release. "The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has over 50 deputy sheriff SROs working in our school system. One or more SROs are assigned to every school campus in partnership with our FCSS."

The student was not identified, and charges are unknown.
