  1. This past Saturday at CHI Memorial Stadium in East Ridge, Southeast Whitfield's former soccer star Lesley Alanis only needed one half of soccer to leave an impact as she led the Georgia team to a 3-0 victory over Tennessee. Alanis's two goals in the first half of the all-star game led her to be named the game's MVP; she left after the first half of the game to play in a semi-pro game. This will not be the last time Alanis will be seen in the area, as she will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Dalton State this coming fall. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  2. Authorities are currently looking for 55-year-old Ronald Langely Jr. of Dalton who reportedly staged a fall in Kroger's back in May 2022 and then reported the incident to his insurance company. After investigating the incident, security footage captured Langely lowering himself intentionally into a spill which he said caused him to fall. Officers attempted to reach Langely with the information collected from the initial incident but discovered that he provided fake information. Anyone with information surrounding the whereabouts of Langely is asked to contact police; there are warrants out for him for insurance fraud and obstruction. (WSBTV)
  3. Over the weekend, a Dalton Police Department spokesperson made a statement regarding the suspect seen throwing a kitten in the parking lot of the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia. The spokesperson said it would be in the suspect's best interest to turn themselves in, as it would be "a matter of time" before they were found by authorities. Thankfully, the kittens are currently doing well in the care of the shelter's volunteers, and the community has taken action to spread the word on the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police as soon as possible. (Yahoo! News)
