Here are the top three stories in Dalton today:

  1. Fulton County Schools Athletic Director Steven Craft will be starting his new position as the assistant superintendent for Dalton County Public Schools on Apr. 10. Craft has served as the athletic director in Fulton County's school system since 2012 and said of the move, "It excites me to have a new challenge." In his time overseeing the 16 high school athletic departments in Fulton County, Craft saw the teams reach more than 100 state championships, one national championship, and numerous signees for college-level athletics.   2. The Latin American Association (LAA) will be celebrating the fourth anniversary of its expansion into Dalton in May. The LAA was originally founded in the metro Atlanta area in 1972 and recently moved its headquarters to a second location in Dalton in the Mack Gatson Community Center in January. The association offers support and resources to Latino residents in numerous areas, including economic empowerment and education and youth services. (Dalton Daily Citizen)
  3. Dalton State College is gearing up to host the final tournaments for men's and women's golf before the Southern State Athletic Tournament. Dalton State's director of gold and the head coach of the college's men's golf team said, "We’re bringing the best teams from all over the country to Dalton, Georgia, and not many teams in the NAIA can say the same for their home."
