Connect Douglas Sells More Than $3,700 Dollars’ Worth Of Tickets

DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- Connect Douglas has sold more than $3,700 dollars’ worth of tickets already after Douglas County Felony Accountability Court Coordinator Tim Prewett made the first official purchase of fare passes for the new fixed route and paratransit bus service on June 7. Connect Douglas Director Gary Watson and Administrative Assistant Jerie Ann Blackwood made the sale to Prewett, who is planning to distribute the passes to court participants who need transportation to important hearings, conferences, and other appointments.

Douglas County’s new fixed route bus service, Connect Douglas is set to begin on Thursday, June 20, but passes are on sale now at the Douglas County Transportation Center, 8800 Doris Road, Douglasville, Georgia 30134. A standard one-way pass is $2.50. Ten-trip passes are available for $25, and a 31-day unlimited pass is $75. Senior adults, individuals with disabilities and students can purchase discounted passes. Discount prices are $1 for a one-way pass, $10 for a ten-trip pass, and $31 for a 31-day unlimited pass.

On the launch date, the service will begin with four routes. Two routes will serve downtown Douglasville and the Highway 5/Stewart Parkway/Douglas Boulevard/Hospital Drive area. A third route will serve Thornton Road south of I-20 and Riverside Drive west to the American Red Cross and Tributary. The fourth route serves downtown Lithia Springs and will connect the two Douglasville routes to the Thornton Road/Riverside route, and will also connect with Cobb Link Route 30 which will provide access to the H.E. Holmes MARTA station. All four routes will operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
