Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:

  1. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office played a role in the recovery of a missing child from Lyon County, Nevada, who was then reunited with their mother. The recovery resulted from a parental abduction investigation, which led to the arrest of Davon Townsell due to an outstanding Contempt of Court warrant issued in Nevada. Lyon County Sheriff's Office initiated the investigation on Jan. 16, with collaboration between LCSO detectives and the U.S. Marshals Service in Reno, ultimately discovering that Townsell had taken the child to the Atlanta area. 2. The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has unanimously adopted the 2023 Comprehensive Plan Update, marking the culmination of a year-long process that involved public hearings and community feedback. Prior to its adoption, the plan underwent reviews at both regional and state levels. This comprehensive plan outlines the county's development and growth strategy for the future.
