James Stanton Read, Jr., “Shang”, 91, of Marietta passed away on Sunday, January 10th, 2016.
A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
Shang was born and raised in Marietta to James Stanton Read, Sr. and Rebecca Hastings Cole Read. He was a lifelong member of Saint James Episcopal Church in Marietta and served as a Sunday School Teacher and Usher. He was a member of Kiwanis and active mentor of the Key Club. Shang was a US Naval Veteran of the USS Augusta at Normandy during WWII and was a retired builder/contractor.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Nadine C. Read of Marietta; three daughters, Becky Sullivan of Marietta, Lucy Ward of Marietta, Emily Hall of Moultrie; two sons, James S. “Jay” Read III of Marietta and John M. Read and his wife, Jana of Emerson; seventeen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
