3rd Arrest Made In Gwinnett Shooting That Killed Jefferson Teen

LAWRENCEVILLE — A third person has been arrested in connection with the October 2022 shooting death of a Jefferson High football player in the 5900 block of Sugarloaf Parkway.

Gwinnett County Police said Thursday Kpadeh Jones, 19, of Lawrenceville, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of malice murder and was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail.

Elijah Dewitt, 17, was found shot to death around 8:15 p.m., Oct. 5, 2022 in the Sugarloaf Mills Mall parking lot, police previously said.

Kemare Bryan, 18, and Chandler Richardson, 19, both of Lawrenceville, were previously arrested on suspicion of murder and other charges in connection with Dewitt's death. They were arrested in Anderson, South Carolina.

The fatal shooting was a botched robbery attempt, Dewitt's family previously told Fox 5 Atlanta. A motive in the shooting has not been released.
