Arson Cause Of Massive Lawrenceville Business Blaze

LAWRENCEVILLE — There were no injuries in a Tuesday morning business fire that officials say was started by arson at Seabord Industrial Drive.

Firefighters with Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services responded around 2:30 a.m. to find multiple work vehicles at a concrete company had been set ablaze. The flames did not spread to the structure, fire officials said.

The fire was brought under control by around 3 a.m., with Lawrenceville police officers helping on scene, fire officials said. It is unknown how the fire was started, and it is still being investigated.

Gwinnett County fire investigators are leading a joint probe with the Lawrenceville Police Department, the Gwinnett County Police Department, as well as state and federal law enforcement.

"Arson is a serious felony crime and is punishable by imprisonment and associated fines," fire officials said in a news release.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the alleged culprits of the fire are the activists who protest the future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.
