Community & Southern Bank Donates More than $7,000 to Local Food Banks for Hunger Action Month Campaign

Truckload of food and more than $1,100 Donated to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia

More than 12.5 million families in America and 700,000 people in metro-Atlanta and north Georgia face hunger and often look to food pantries to provide their next meals. Food and monetary donations to local food banks directly help families in need to get the proper nutrition they need. Community and Southern Bank (CSB) teamed up with 12 of Georgia’s food banks to collect donations during Hunger Action Month.

For every new checking account that was opened throughout Hunger Action Month, CSB made a $5 donation to a nearby food bank. The month long campaign raised more than $7,000 of much needed funds and a truckload of food for each of the 12 pantries. The dedicated initiative generated more than $1,100 in donations to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia in Barrow County.

“CSB is a community-focused bank with a rich history of giving back to the customers and communities that we serve,” says Mark Abernathy, CSB President. “CSB recognized the importance of partnering with Food Bank of Northeast Georgia to fulfill this vital need for our community, and we are hopeful that these donations will benefit Barrow County families in need.”

This contribution comes on the heels of a $5,000 monetary donation from CSB to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia’s “Food 2 Kids” program earlier this month.

CSB works diligently every day not only to help its customers achieve their financial goals, but also to benefit the community as a whole. Every donation made will make a difference in the lives of those in need.
