Funeral Details For Slain Gwinnett Correctional Officer Released

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — The funeral details for the Gwinnett senior correctional officer who was shot and killed last week have been released.

Scott Riner, 59, was shot to death Dec. 13 outside of the Gwinnett Correctional Complex on Hi Hope Road, police said. Yahya Abdulkadir, 22, of Dacula, is accused in his death, police said.

The funeral for Riner is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at North Metro Church, 1026 Old Peachtree Road in Lawrenceville.

Parking will be designated for people wanting to join the processional, police said.

The police procession will transport Riner to the West View Cemetery in Monticello, police said.

Traffic is expected to increase along the route. Drivers are encouraged to increase their travel time or plan alternate routes.
