Gwinnett Crash Kills Mom, Son And Motorcyclist; Speed May Be A Factor

The woman's car was turning left in the roadway, colliding with an oncoming motorcycle, police said.

LAWRENCEVILLE — Three people, including a mother and one of her two sons, were killed Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash at Scenic Highway and Scenic Pines Drive, Gwinnett County Police said Friday.

Police said the crash happened around 7 p.m., when a silver Kia Sorento drove into the path of a white Yamaha motorcycle while turning left in the roadway. The Kia was heading north on Scenic, and the Yamaha was heading southbound.

The two vehicles crashed, killing the three people. Police said the occupants of the Kia was a 37-year-old Loganville mother and her 14-year-old son, who both died of their injuries.

The woman's 9-year-old son, also in the car, was taken to a local hospital, police said. His condition is unknown.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 27-year-old Snellville man, died of his injuries, police said.

Both the Kia and Yamaha were impounded at police headquarters for investigating. Police said it is unclear who is the at-fault driver with speed being probed as a contributing factor in the crash.

Those who died were not identified Friday.
