Man Kills Wife At Gwinnett Senior Living Facility: Police

The couple was sharing a room at the senior living facility, where the wife was found dead in Gwinnett County.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — An 81-year-old man is facing murder charges after Gwinnett County Police said he killed his wife Tuesday at a senior living facility in Lawrenceville.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. to the Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road facility, where they found a woman dead inside one of the rooms, police said. The manner of death is unknown.

Police identified the woman as Grace Hayden, 71, of Lawrenceville. Husband Richard Hayden was charged on suspicion of malice murder, aggravated assault and felony murder in connection with her death, police said.

The Haydens were sharing a room at the senior living facility, police said.

Richard Hayden was being evaluated for unrelated reasons at a local hospital and was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail, police said. Jail records show he is being held without bond.

The cause of death will be determined by the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office, police said.
