LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A two-story Lebanon Road mansion suffered a house fire around 7:45 a.m. Friday, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.

There were no injuries in the fire, and the house was vacant at the time of the fire, according to the fire department. The cause of the fire could not be determined.

Fire officials said there was heavy fire in the basement, which had begun spreading to the first and second floors. Multiple hose lines were used to attack the fire, officials said.

Firefighters conducting a search-and-rescue were forced out of the home due to worsening fire conditions, fire officials said. Due to the size of the fire and the structural damage to the house, firefighters had to fight the fire from outside the home, fire officials said.

The Gwinnett County Police Department's Aviation Unit was activated, and its helicopter was equipped with a 100-gallon Bambi bucket to drop water from above the fire, officials said. The water was pulled from a lake behind the house.

The helicopter made 22 passes over the fire to help bring it under control. Firefighters were able to get the flames under control at 9:43 a.m., fire officials said.
