Man Charged In Killing Of Gwinnett Correctional Officer

The man accused of killing Gwinnett correctional officer Scott Riner was arrested Friday, police said.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County Police have arrested the man accused in the shooting death of Gwinnett correctional officer Scott Riner, police said.

Yahya Abdulkadir, 22, of Dacula, was arrested Friday afternoon near Main Street in Lithonia, police said. He is charged on suspicion of felony murder and aggravated assault, police said.

He will be taken to the Gwinnett Detention Center, police said.

Riner, 59, was shot to death Tuesday outside of the Gwinnett Correctional Complex on Hi Hope Road, police said. He was with the correctional center for more than 10 years.

Police did not release a motive in the shooting.
