GWINNETT COUNTY, GA -- A Lawrenceville Police Department captain has been nominated for a Gwinnett Chamber Moxie Award as a trailblazer and an emerging leader who is generous with her time and talent.

The Gwinnett Chamber Moxie Awards recognize organizations that are women-led/women-owned and those that support the advancement of women.

“The Lawrenceville Police Department and the City of Lawrenceville are excited for CPT. Gilovanni to have been nominated in the Influence Award category,” said Chief Tim Wallis, Lawrenceville Police Department. “CPT. Gilovanni is not only the first woman to have a supervisory role our 100-year history, she is a forward-thinking leader with compassion for our officers and a vision for them moving forward.”

“In Gwinnett, we are fortunate to have a strong network of women and organizations that support them,” said Alicia Krogh, senior vice president of programs & events at the Gwinnett Chamber. “This program will highlight the wonderful work that is being done within our community.”

The Moxie Awards will recognize individuals and organizations alike. Organizational awards will highlight companies that support the advancement of women, as well as those that are women-led. In addition, individual awards will honor those who are trailblazers in male-dominated fields, Gwinnett County champions, emerging leaders, professionals who are at the peak of their career and those who are generous with their time, talent or resources.

Designations will be given for the following awards.

· Enlightened Employer Award

· Greater Good Award

· Influence Award

· On the Rise Award

· Outstanding Organization Award

· Moxie Award

· Pay It Forward Award

The awards ceremony will conclude a two-part program on Aug. 29. It will begin with a panel, featuring Liz Gillespie, partner and vice president of North American Properties, Sara Irvani, CEO of Okabashi Brands, Hala Moddelmog, president & CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Natalie Morhous, president of RaceTrac.
