Man Dies In Gwinnett Shooting That Injured Mom; Probe Now A Homicide

A 43-year-old man is now facing murder charges after another man died of his injuries sustained from a Lawrenceville double shooting.

ATLANTA — A double shooting that injured a mother and her 20-year-old son Tuesday night at Dayspring Trace is now being investigated as a homicide after the man died of his injuries, Gwinnett County Police said Monday.

Police identified the man as Daqwayvious Kleckley. He was being treated for injuries at a hospital before he died, police said.

His mother, a 44-year-old woman, remains hospitalized for her injuries, police said.

Terrance Alonzo Washington, 43, who was initially charged on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault, is now facing felony murder and malice murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting, police said.

Washington was also charged on suspicion of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by taking, police said in the past.

Responding officers heard gunshots upon arriving at the Dayspring home and found the mother-son duo with gunshot wounds in the driveway.

The motive for the shooting was determined to be domestic-related as Washington was previously in a relationship with the woman, police said in the past.
