Tractor Trailer Jackknifes On Interstate 85, Leaking Diesel Fuel

BREAKING: Tractor Trailer Jackknifes on Interstate 85 southbound. A hazmat team is on the scene because the truck is leaking diesel fuel.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A tractor trailer jackknifed on Interstate 85 southbound, south of Highway 20, before Highway 317, blocking southbound lanes. There were no other injuries or vehicles involved that were reported to fire personnel.

Authorities believe the truck is the only vehicle involved. A hazmat team was requested to evaluate a ruptured fuel tank on the truck that was leaking diesel fuel. The fuel was contained to a ditch in the center median of the roadway and did not immediately threaten any waterways.

Georgia Department of Transportation and DOT/HERO sanded the roadway to address fuel that was spilled on the travel lanes. The truck has been removed via wrecker and they are waiting arrival of a private cleanup company to mitigate the leaked fuel product.
