Video Footage Released In Killing Of Gwinnett Correctional Officer

Police said the footage shows the suspect walking near the scene of the shooting Tuesday.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Police have released security footage of the suspect accused in the shooting death of Gwinnett correctional officer Scott Riner and are asking for the public's help in the case.

The footage shows the suspect walking near the scene of the shooting at the Gwinnett Correctional Complex on Hi Hope Road, police said.

According to the department, police are interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area of Hi Hope Road and Swanson Drive, near Hurricane Shoals Road and State Route 316, from 4-7 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the department is specifically wanting to speak with people who may have dashcam footage in the area.

Before he died, Riner had an encounter with the suspect, police said. Police did not give details on the nature of the encounter.

No arrests have been made in the case, and police said detectives are exploring all motives.
