Winning Design: Lawrenceville Boy, 9, Wins Peachtree Jr. T-Shirt Contest — Again

Nicholas Parra says the design captures what it feels like to cross the finish line.

A Lawrenceville boy is the first repeat winner in the Peachtree Junior T-shirt design contest, quite an accomplishment for someone only 9 years old.

Nicholas Parra, a fourth-grader at Kanoheda Elementary School, also won the contest in 2011.

Nicholas enjoys running and roller and ice hockey, and will run in this year’s Peachtree Junior 3K in Piedmont Park on May 17. He wanted his T-shirt design to reflect what it feels like to cross the finish line.

Every finisher in the Peachtree Junior (for ages 7-12) will earn a T-shirt.

“Running is a part of Nicholas’ everyday life. He runs during recess at school and on the weekends with me,” said Javier Parra, Nicholas’ father, said in a press release. “We are so proud of his active lifestyle and his desire to encourage others to be healthy through his drawings.”
