  1. Some Marietta residents found antisemitic flyers tossed into their yards over the weekend. The Marietta Police Department is investigating, but it is unclear who distributed the flyers, which center around a lynching that occurred in Marietta in 1915. According to Marietta Police Department Public Information Officer Chuck McPhilamy, similar instances of antisemitism have happened recently in Dunwoody and Alpharetta. Since the flyers are considered free speech, the people responsible for their distribution could be charged with littering. (Yahoo! News)
  2. The Cobb County School District recently removed two books from school libraries due to "highly inappropriate, sexually explicit content." Copies of "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" by Jesse Andrews and "Flamer" by Mike Curato were removed from 20 school libraries. According to a spokesperson for the district, the two titles are subject to an ongoing investigation. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. A portion of the Silver Comet Trail will be closed for three to five days beginning on Monday, Aug. 28. The closure, which will be in the area of Anderson Farm Road, will allow Colonial Pipeline Company to complete routine maintenance on a pipeline that crosses the trail. Crews will excavate around 40 feet of the underground pipeline for inspection and repairs. (CobbCounty.org)
